95 Years of Kingdom Building
"And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."     1 Corinthians 13:13

Sharon Denise Daniels was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC to the late Jasper Sr. & Carrie Daniels…the third oldest of nine children.

She completed her elementary and high school education (honor graduate) in the Halifax County School System. She matriculated at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, earning a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Sociology and Social Work & Social Organization, respectively. She returned to college and received certification in Middle Grades Education from the Fort Valley State University and thus began her professional teaching career in the Bibb County Public School System in Macon, Georgia, teaching fourth and fifth grades and retired as a writing specialist at Burdell Hunt Elementary Magnet School, teaching K-5th grades. After 23 years at Burdell Hunt and a total of 30 years in the field of education, she retired.

Sharon became a National Board-Certified Teacher in 2002, one of the first two Blacks in Bibb County, Macon, GA, and she shares this honor with her principal, Tanya Allen.

She received a Master of Divinity Degree in 2017 from Luther Rice College & Seminary in Stone Crest, GA. She received her call to preach and teach God’s word in 2002.

In 1976, Sharon married Rev. Dr. Gregory Homer, Sr., and they have three children: Greg Jr., Shaneika White (Erik), and Tenesha Witherspoon (Allen). They have eight wonderful grandchildren.

In 2002, Sharon preached her initial sermon under the pastorate of her husband, Rev. Dr. Gregory Homer, at Shady Grove Baptist Church (Allen Temple AME Church) in Cordele, GA. Her sermon title: “What do You (Lord) Want Me to do For You, Ask and I’ll do It” (Mark 10:46-52).

As a servant of God, Pastor Homer has served in various capacities in the church and the community where she serves, including the women’s missionary society, WIM (Women in Ministry) coordinator for the Macon South District, choir member, and an adult/youth choir director.

She loves teaching God’s little ones and the youth of the church and enjoys being around inquisitive minds. Bible study and church school are an absolute must! Her favorite Scriptures are Psalm 121, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord…” and Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”  As a pastor and preacher of the Gospel,  “I just want to do God’s will!"
